Rotary Supports West Highland Museum Charity Auction Dinner
The Rotary Club of Lochaber had a table at the West Highland Museum Charity Auction Dinner at the Moorings Hotel Banavie on Saturday 11th November. Past President and Paul Harris Fellow John Hutchison, who is the Chairman of the Trustees of the Museum, welcomed all the guests.
The guest speaker was writer and broadcaster Hugh Dan MacLennan who, in a most amusing and informative presentation, spoke of growing up in Caol and of his experiences at Caol Primary and Lochaber High School. Chairman for the evening was Councillor Allan Henderson and entertainment was by the High School Fiddlers.
After a delicious dinner, an auction was led by Peter Donald. Many local people and businesses had donated incredible prizes for the auction, some raising several hundred, and in one case over a thousand, pounds. The evening ended with the raffle which also contained some very valuable prizes, all of which were donated. Rotarians won an electric bicycle experience, two tickets for the Harry Potter express and a three-kilogram salmon.
The evening raised over ten thousand pounds for the Museum.
